Through a grant with New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN) the Somerset Council is working on a “Communities Against Tobacco” (CAT) project, funded by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services Tobacco Control Unit.

Efforts focus on community change in regard to reducing exposure to environmental tobacco smoke and preventing youth initiation of tobacco use. The Somerset Council is approaching the CAT project through a partnership with the American Cancer Society Tobacco Task Force and has formed a CAT Coalition which meets on a monthly basis and also implements community projects and events.  Anyone who lives or works in Somerset County is welcome to join our CAT Coalition.
