The “We for 21” and “We for 21 Too” Programs are community based initiatives with the goal of preventing underage access and consumption of alcohol. Under this program, Somerset County liquor-licensed establishments sign pledges stating that they will consistently ask for identification when serving young customers. Upon signing the pledge, the establishment receives a wealth of promotional and educational materials, including posters, coasters, napkins, and stickers to display the “We for 21” message, and a booklet with color photos of drivers licenses for all of the United States and Canada, and Mexico to assist in spotting false I.D.

By signing the “We for 21 Too” pledge parents are stating they will not serve alcohol at their teen parties. Under the “We for 21 Too” program, participants similarly will receive a wealth of resource materials. For example, resource materials on how to talk to kids about alcohol, information on underage drinking laws and penalties, and promotional stickers are available to participating families.

If you would like information on either of these programs, please contact the Somerset Council by sending and e-mail to scadd307@aol.com or call 908-722-4900.
